About This Blog

Cerebral Faith is a blog created by me, Evan Minton, your friendly neighborhood internet apologist and theology nerd. I created this blog specifically for reaching out to people who may have many questions about the Christian faith which may hinder them from coming to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. On this blog, you will see directly beneath the Cerebral Faith logo, several tabs of different names. These are where you can search for articles of a particular type. For example, if you want to look at some of the common criticisms of the Christian faith by atheists and how I attempt to tackle these criticisms, you would click on “Atheist Criticisms Library”. If you want to look at several arguments for God’s existence, you’d click on the tab that says “Natural Theology Library”.

I call this blog “Cerebral Faith” because I take a very cerebral approach to my faith. Christianity isn’t a blind faith. It’s a rational worldview based on solid evidence from science, history, and philosophy. You do not have to leave your brains at the door if you want to enter a church and worship God. Exiting my teen years, I’ve become a very skeptical person. In fact, I tend to be a second guesser about a lot of things. So I truly like to look before I leap (and perhaps even make measurements to determine if the leap I make will get me to the other side of the cavern, taking into account my lower body strength, the length of the chasm, etc.). So, yeah. I take a cerebral approach to my Christian faith. That’s why this blog is called “Cerebral Faith”. The theme of this blog is Christian Apologetics and theology. Now, what is Christian Apologetics? Christian Apologetics is an intellectual defense of the Christian Faith. The practice of apologetics mainly stems from a command in 1 Peter 3:15 which says "Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect". The word in this verse which has been translated as "defense" is "apologia". So Apologetics is a defense (apologia) for the Christian worldview. It's similar to how an attorney defends his client if he's been accused of a crime. The lawyer presents well formulated arguments based on the evidence to try to convince the jury that his client is innocent. Christian Apologists are similar to defense attorneys in this way.

I hope if you are a non-believer or a skeptic, that hopefully my writings will persuade you into believing the truth claims of The Bible, and hopefully get you to seriously consider inviting Jesus into your life to have the relationship that He longs to have with you. If you’re a Christian, I hope that my writings strengthen your faith and perhaps even equip you to defend your faith whenever someone asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have (1 Peter 3:15). If you wish to ask me questions about what I said in a given article, or wish to debate the issue, leave your question or rebuttals in the comment section.
